Chris Cornell (Christopher John Boyle; July 20, 1964 – May 17, 2017) was an American artist, artist and lyricist, best known as the lead vocalist, essential musician and cadence guitarist for Seattle shake band Soundgarden and as lead vocalist and musician for the gathering Audioslave. He was likewise known for his various solo works and soundtrack commitments since 1991, and as organizer and frontman for Temple of the Dog, the coincidental tribute band devoted to his late companion Andrew Wood.
